Friendly folk and superb food at Fork deli and patisserie in Bloomsbury

Fork was my regular breakfast haunt before I moved offices six months ago. Found at the top of Marchmont Street in Bloomsbury, it’s a great little café with a cosy community feel and super friendly staff.

In place of loyalty cards, they have an ‘honesty’ blackboard. Just put your name on the board (if you can find a space!), keep a tally and you’ll soon get your free coffee.

It serves amazing, simple and healthy food and I  genuinely miss having it on my doorstep. So much so, that I sometimes take an extended walk to work just to get my hands on their yummy yogurt and berry compote.

All the salads are vegetarian, freshly made on the premises, and much more inventive and flavoursome than your usual lunchtime fayre. Recent recipes include lentil, goats cheese and roasted vegetables and a purple potato and samphire mix. So tasty, that you forget you’re being virtuous.

If you’d rather indulge, Fork can deliver there too. The gluten-free brownies are the epitome of naughtiness and you can’t go wrong with their petite pastel de natas either. Complement with some Monmouth coffee, or now that it’s autumn, the super spicy fresh lemon and ginger tea, and snuggle down in the wonderful window seats to watch the world go by.
